Sessions are administered under the authority of the VE Team, which is responsible for all exam procedures and compliance.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring the following to your VE session:
Identification & Registration
- Federal Registration Number (FRN) – Social Security numbers are no longer accepted. Get your FRN here.
- Legal photo ID (driver’s license, passport). If unavailable, bring two other forms of ID.
- Mail showing your name and address (library card, utility bill, bank statement, or postmarked envelope).
- Students/minors may bring school ID, work permit, report card, or a guardian’s photo ID.
Licenses & Certificates
- Copy of your current Amateur Radio license or reference copy from FCC, ARRL, or QRZ.com. Include CSCE certificates if applicable; originals are optional if the FCC has already issued your license.
Digital Exam Essentials
- Calculator (memory cleared). Optional, depending on exam type.
Payment
- $15 ARRL session fee – cash or check only (no credit cards).
- FCC $35 application fee instructions will be emailed to you.
Rules & Compliance
- Cell phones must be silenced/turned off. Phone calculators are not allowed.
- No notes or formulas unless explicitly allowed by the VE Team.
